It seems that Joe Calzaghe and Roy Jones Jr have agreed to fight each other at MSG in New York on 20th September 08. Both fighters are promoting this fight themselves.

Calzaghe, who has said it will be his last fight wanted to fight in Wales but now fights in the US, as he desperately wanted RJJ for his last fight.

Roy has said he will fight on regardless of the result and wants to take on Samuel Peter at Heavyweight :?:

What are your thoughts on this fight and how it will go.

I firstly wanted Calzaghe to take on Pavlik in his last fight, a fight with Jones should have happened years ago when they both at their peaks, or at least better.

And as always I see Joe outworking Roy to a Points decision

I see RJJ sharpshooting and hitting Joe with straight rights and left hooks/uppercut combos all night. Joe isn't a real lhw and will get beat.

Calzaghe will win....and wouldn't be surprised if he stops Jones. Not a KO...but a TKO

First of all this fight doesn't need promoting so I'm glad Calzaghe will make maximum profit out of it , second I think it will be an easier fight than against Hopkins and see a Calzaghe UD that will probably get scored as a split decision  As for taking on Peter well that would be interesting

Jones still has good hand speed, but no longer has the foot speed and the crazy angles that made him look so spectacular back in the day. He now seems to spend more time in the corners and on the ropes slipping punches and not throwing a lot back.

As for Joe, I expected a slightly stronger show against Hopkins and by that I mean physicaly stronger. He was still landing a lot of punches as we all love to see but I just would have liked to see Hopkins wobble at least once (Like Kessler did after the body shot).

I'd love to see Joe smash Jones up like he did Lacy and complete his legacy. However Jones can move better than Lacy ever could and probably won't be getting knocked out. So I look forward to a points win Via Joe landing a thousand odd punches.

All hail Calzaghe!!!!!!

Also i read that Jones said he and Calzaghe should weigh in for 168 pds, get off have some water, etc then re weigh in again under 175pds, but over 168 in oder to fight for both titles.
Hopefully they do that.

Can't anyone see the wily, crafty old Jones possibly sneaking the win? If it's down to form, Calzaghe is a dead cert but I've got a funny feeling at the back of my mind about this one...I really feel it's a lot closer than people think.
