My names CutMeMick. I'm 26 yrs. old (ouch! it hurts to type it) and I'm from Los Angeles, California. I've been a boxing fan for the better part of my life. Truth is I'm just a sports junkie but I have a certain passion for boxing that exceeds far and beyond the other sports. However I am known for going ballistic over a tennis match (Agasi-Blake US Open) but that's for another thread.
My earlisest boxing memory is being at a Jorge Paez fight in '86 when he fought Noe Gonzalez I don't remember much about it. Growing up as a kid it was either soccer/footy or boxing and I did soccer as kid but my uncles (which I owe everything I know about boxing to them) always talked boxing to me.
I grew up in East LA 4 blocks away from ODLH so it's no surprise that ODLH is one of my fav. fighters and beyond that a man I admire for never forgetting his people back home. As I got into my teens I still played footy but always had time for boxing then I enrolled in a gym not to take it full on but just as a hobby.
At the same time my uncles hard core fans always gathered up drinking and talking about the sport so I grew up hearing a lot about 60's, 70's & 80's eras.
of fighters like Carlos Ortiz, Mando Ramos, Alberto Davila, Lupe Pintor, Ali, Holmes, Yaqui Lopez, JCC, Alexis, Duran, Chango Carmona, Chianachoi, "Finito" Lopez, Eubanks, Watson, Collins, Esparragoza, Roman, Canto, Laciar, Watanabe etc. etc. etc. I would watch fights with them all the time on Terrestrial tv one of the earliest fights I remember watching was Michael Moorer vs. Leslie Stewart, I was about 9 yrs. old and I remember that day perfectly cause when my uncles got news that "Chiquita" Gonzalez had crowned himself as champ they went crazy in the house. Not only that but the fights that night were something special for me as 9 yr. old. After that we went to several small cards put together there but nothing big. Then in '94 I got to attend my 1st big live event when ODLH fought Bredahl for the WBO title. On that same card one of my uncles favorite fighters ever James Lights Out Toney faced off against Tim Littles. One of many fight nights I will never forget you'll rarely here me talk about this cause I have no way of proving this no pictures even our ticket stubs my uncle lost them but we carry the memories in our heart. One thing that I should mention of this night is I told my uncle "Why aren't they stopping the fight look at his eye I don't think Toney can see anymore" my uncle being the Toney fan that he is replies with "Shut up or your walking home"

This was at the world famous Olympic Auditorium.
Since then I've been very blessed and fortunate to have attended some of the best fights of my generation. I've been ringside for:
ODLH vs. Bredahl
Toney vs. Littles
JLC vs. Corrales I
JMM vs. Polo
"Maestrito" Lopez vs. Mercedes
Rafa vs. Izzy I & III
Vic vs. Burgos
Quintana vs. Williams I
Berto vs. Trabant
Andrade vs. Kopitko
Bojado vs. Adamyan
"Baby Bull" Diaz vs. Contreras
and I've also gotten the opp. to see some of the best up and coming prospects and some top contenders such as: Enrique Ornelas who just had a brilliant battle with McKart, Giovanni Segura, Yohnny Perez, Brandon Rios, Jorge Paez Jr, Carlos De Leon Jr, Grzegorz Proksa, Antonio De Marco, Vanes Martirosyan, Leo Santa Cruz to name a few.
My fav. all time fighters are (1 per div):
Ali, Evander, Foster, Eubank, Monzon, ODLH, Emile, JCC, Duran, Alexis, Sanchez, Morales, Olivares, Roman, Canto and "Finito" Lopez.
I've also had the oppo. to meet a lot of boxers and other people involved in the sweet science at weigh ins and press conferences such as: Lennox Lewis, ODLH, James Toney, SSM, "Finito" Lopez, Morales, MAB, JMM, Carlos Ortiz, "The Tiger" Lopez, "Yaqui" Lopez, Armando Muniz, Earnie Terrel, Mike Weaver, Mando Ramos (RIP), Alex Ramos, Steven Luevano, Martin Castillo, Cotto, Margarito, McCullogh, Winky Wright, Ponce De Leon, Bobby Chacon, Jeff Lacy, Julio Gonzalez, Greg Haugen, Jorge Arce, Bobby Watts, Tony Weeks, Joe Cortez, Lou Duva, Ignacio Bersitein, Bojado, Arreola, BCD, Floyd Sr., Freddie Roach, Kellerman, Lampley, Merchant.
Well I hope I didn't bore anyone of you and if I did well then you should have stopped reading at some point... lol
I look forward to some good boxing talk sessions.
